21: Bringing Down the House

"Twenty-five thousand dollars in hundreds, strapped to each thigh. Another fifty thousand in a Velcro bag taped to my chest. Fifty thousand more stuffed into the pockets of my jacket. A hundred thousand nestled against the small of my back(5)."

So far in the book it has just mentioned a time when Kevin, one of the main characters almost got caught card counting in Las Vegas, but was just barely able to escape. Nobody knows how much money Kevin has made exactly but it has been rumored that it is between one and five million dollars. (Holy Cow) Kevin and his team of six M.I.T. students make the trip for Las Vegas every weekend. Card counting is not illegal, casinos just do not want you to do it because they know what the final result will be, their money in your pocket.

I picked this quote because it really shows how much money they are dealing with. They must hide it from airport security otherwise they will think it is for drugs and notify the DEA and FBI.

So far I really like this book it had a really good beggining. Hopefully it keeps up! I think card counting sounds very risky, but at the same time that it could pay off if it is done right. I can't wait to keep reading more, I can barely set it down!

Wow Brian this looks like a very interesting book you are reading. I liked the quote you picked, I can't believe anyone would carry that much money around with them. I wonder how much money these guys make on a really good day? I hope you are enjoying this book as much as i enjoy reading your posts!
