Ellen Foster

Ellen Foster is about an 11 year old girl who tells her story of her childhood life.
"All I did was wish him dead real hard every now and then. And I can say for a fact that I am better off now than when he was alive" (1).

You would least expect to hear an 11 year old child speak the way Ellen has spoken about her father. This is the first page of the book and you can feel the intense emotions of this little girl. The stongness of her words brings a chill through your body. On this first page you are told about the father dying from alcohol overdose and how Ellen inspired to kill him. By reading the first few pages I yearned to read more and I'm now on the 9th chapter! Theres only 15 chapters. I am in awe of how survived practically on her own. Her haterd toward her father is from neglect and abuse to her and her mother. Her mother died from heart complications. I think she died from the abuse her husband gave her. Ellen Foster is a good book. The author makes the charcter (Ellen) sound so real, it seems to be inspired by a true story. If you like Lifetime then you'll really like this book.
