“I strode toward my front door and I could feel his anger building, coming off him in waves. I expected at any second that he would fly up behind me to demand an explanation or, better yet, to apologize for calling me a child. Just the thought jarred me out of my melodramatic stupor. Him, racing after me. A heated argument. And where do arguments frequently lead? To making up. I forgot about JackHill because I can be just that shallow. I knew a potential dramatic moment when it was staring me in the face. While I frown on dramatic moments (don’t laugh) this was one I have to admit I was looking forward to. Slowing down, I pulled my key from my purse. I took forever to unlock the door despite the crack of lightning that flashed through the sky. Finally, I turned around…just in time to see him drive away. If you think for a second that I was going to run after the man, you are mistaken. I don’t do desperate any more than I do big hair in the rain. Or so I told myself” (226).
I don’t really find this quote to be weird or anything but it is a little out there. Yeah, when reading a book you tend to think of these things as they are happening, but not actually read it. I like this book because the author tends to just say what you are thinking at that moment when you read it. It has a sense of reality between its pages. In this quote though I like how it points out the stereotypical actions when people get into a heated argument. But I hate how women assume if they just keep arguing and then walk away that the man will just come racing after you because just like in this quote- in reality- they might just leave. It reminds me of when you watch a scary movie and you know that the girl shouldn’t open the door, but then he totally does. It points out that people live for drama; people just do things to create dramatic situations. I find that the short fragments in the quote also work because that is just how you read it. You would put pauses there because you begin to think about what you are reading and predicting what is going to happen next. I just wanted to keep reading to see what was going to happen next, but it’s not really hard to predict since this quote pretty much foreshadows what she is going to do next. Get in her car and go race after him…shocker.

I would have to agree with you when you said people tend to create dramatic situations just to do it. That just flat out annoys me when they do it because all they want is attention from everyone. I also liked the quote that you picked because of the authors writing style. Her style is a lot like the writing style of the book I am reading. It is different from the "typical" writing style I guess you could say so I really like and it sounds like a good book.
